In what has been universally praised as the most visually spectacular Olympic opening ceremony of all time, China held its emergence on the world stage largely in the National Stadium in Beijing, also known as the Bird Nest.

The stage was lit by about 1,100 luminaries as the main part of the lighting system automatically from the company Martin Professional, the largest ever prepared for a unique event as well, was part of the mounting fixtures of Martin's top mobile MAC 2000 Wash and new MAC 2000 Wash XB, some of which were mounted on the roof of the stadium and many others on the walls of the upper plates.

The design of the lighting is from Chinese Sha Xiao Lan: "After knowing that it would be the chief of the opening and closing ceremonies, I spent a long time to conceive the design of lighting. The Olympic Games are not just for Chinese people, but for the entire world. The problem is that people from different places have different tastes in aesthetics. Specifically, Westerners prefer elegant pastel colors, while the Chinese like strong highly saturated color, and this was the most important part to consider.

"The Beijing Olympic Games are broadcast on TV in a high-resolution digital signal, so the lighting needs to be very uniform in color temperature. According to our plan, which needed moving lights in 2700, something that is unprecedented. The Martin MAC 2000 Wash were chosen because they are the most stable and uniform in color.

"Even the white need to be in good taste. If you look carefully enough might have noticed that the white paint on the Chinese landscape was different to the color of the typeface in the mobile arena. At the silk road use amber color to simulate the atmosphere of deserts, and in the rites and music we used the real tone of gold to create an environment of the Imperial Palace. During the Tai Chi and the fleet of Zheng He, we have used highly saturated blue. Remember when Lang Lang and the girl began playing the piano? The colorful light was like an impressionist painting.
"I believe that through the opening ceremony showed the ability to successfully design lighting of China. All factors, including organization, control, lighting and design are quite satisfactory and we have won the praise of Western media. "

The staff began lighting the first installation of accessories in March with most of the luminaries MAC placed on the roof of the stadium.

In turn, the man responsible for ensuring that the issue of optimal lighting for the appearance of opening and closing is a veteran specialist, Australian Paul Collison: "The lighting for the TV in an event like this can be a challenge. Although the show at times is geared to one side, the cameras can move in any direction. We are very aware that every section of the stadium is a part of the show.

"All the accessories Martin have performed well in difficult conditions. The high humidity and high temperatures are hard on the lighting, not to mention the huge amount of dust that we are through the final stages of the construction of the Bird Nest. I am sure that these facilities have seen more dust during the past four months that most vacuum cleaners do in life. "

The television studios in Beijing from the NBC U.S. and Mexico's Televisa also have used products Martin Professional.

The facilities at Martin Professionals will be maintained for the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Beijing on August 24, as well as for the Paralympic Games to be held from 6 to Sept. 17.
